Key Attributes -
Cdn.Ch. Glastonbury Victoria n'Albert (Victor)
- Victor was his breeder Lanny’s favourite male dog from the moment he was born until the day he died 13 years later in 2004. A 21-
inch, blue fawn brindle with blue mask, with rich dark eyes, Victor was bred under the Glastonbury affix, used by us in the early 1990s until the Avalonia affix was adopted instead. Kept in spite of the advice from the owner of his sire, a prominent American breeder, that he should be placed because of his colouring – her preferences definitely did not include blue whippets of any description -- Victor was kept and adored for his lifetime. He finished his Canadian championship title easily, just after his first birthday.
- Victor had three litters, two bred out of Cdn.Ch. Windspiel Parti Doll (Dolly), a black brindle and white bitch who produced all
mahogany and black brindle particolours – no blues – in those two litters. Five of their pups went on to earn championship titles in Canada , the USA and Europe . Most notable of Victor’s sons is Cdn.Fin.Nor.World ’98 Ch. Avalonia Wheatfield Waving (Nicholas), who came from the repeat breeding. Owned by Jarmo Vuorinen of Finland , Nicholas earned his World title in Helsinki in 1998 under Norwegian judge Espen Engh.
- Victor’s final litter, born on 1 January 1999 , was an attempt to recreate the magic of his own litter, by breeding him back to double
up on the bloodline of Eng.Am.Cdn.Ch. Nevedith Up Town Guy, his sire.
- Bred to Avalonia Gby Wisteria (April, sired by Ch. Nevedith Local Lancer out of Mouse -- Glastonbury Victoria Regina, Victor’s litter
sister), he produced a litter of 4 blue brindle and white dogs – exactly as wanted! We kept the handsome male from that litter, Avalonia Dom Perignon (Dom), a magnificent stallion of a dog whom we plan to use in our breeding program, while litter sister Avalonia Veuve Cliquot (May) is owned by Carol Wright of Windsong Whippets in the United States.
