Int.Belg.Cdn.Ch. Avalonia Macallan (Tess)

NEWS FLASH (21 August 2004)

  • We are thrilled to pieces with the wonderful news we have just had from Belgium. Cdn. & International Ch. Avalonia Macallan
(Tess) completed the qualifications for her Belgian Championship in style winning BOB and then going BIG at the show Mechelen,
shown by our good friend Bart Scheerens of Boxing Helena kennels and she is now Int.Cdn.&Belg.Ch. Avalonia Macallan. This title
completes an eventful year for Tess, who has just returned to the show ring after her first litter, sired by Eng.Ch. Nevedith Eefa
Empra, currently number one whippet dog in England. We are deeply grateful to Bart for all he has done for Tess, and for Avalonia
    in Europe!

  • Tess is proof that good things come in small packages. At just 18 inches, some who saw her thought she would have a difficult
time earning her Canadian championship title in entries up against larger Canadian and American bitches. But quality and
soundness go hand in hand with this petite and beautiful lemon brindle and white bitch bred entirely out of English bloodlines
from Nevedith and Tess's road to her Canadian title was swift. In just three sets of shows she gained her Canadian title.

  • Months later she caught someone else's eye, in this case Bart Scheerens of Boxing Helena's Whippets and Cirneco dell'Etna's in
Belgium. On a visit to Canada delivering Multi Ch. Boxing Helena's Xotic Xile to Avalonia for showing and a litter, he spotted Tess
in the girl dog's play room and asked "Who is that!" Within days she was on her way to Belgium with Bart.

  • She was a smashing success there from the start, beginning with her debut show in Fall 2002 when she won the CAC/CACIB and
show in Brussels. That win also Crufts qualified her, the second Avalonia whippet to earn a Crufts qualification in the European
going BOB and BIG in Antwerp, the Netherlands, followed in December 2002 with another BOB at the prestigious international
show ring (the other is also a Lancer daughter, Multi Ch. Avalonia Glen Scotia, with Jarmo Vuorinen in Finland).

  • Tess continued her winning ways throughout her European stay, returning to Canada in the summer of 2005 with two new
championship titles - Belgian and International, to add to her Cdn.Ch. title. She was best whippet bitch in Belgium in 2003, and, in
her last show in Europe before she returned to Canada, Tess again was Best of Breed and Best in Group.

  • Before leaving Belgium and returning to Avalonia Tess was bred to Eng.Ch. Nevedith Eefa Empra, producing six pups who are now
resident across Europe.  In Fall 2006 we were thrilled when her eight month old granddaughter, Boxing Helena’s Fi Fy Foe Fum
her son, (sired by Tess’s son Boxing Helena’s Dark Empra ) was selected as Best Puppy in Show at the World Dog Show in Poznan,
Poland.  We are hoping to have a Tess litter here at Avalonia sometime in 2007.
