Key Attributes -
Cdn.Ch. Avalonia Barbados (14 December 2002) (Fox)
- It took us four months to decide which one of four very equally beautiful, equally sound bitches in our 2002 Caribbean litter we
would retain at Avalonia. It was only when we finally decided on Fox that we dared let the others go to new homes, knowing that we could not repeat the litter because the owners of the sire, Avalonia Bilbo Baggins, had elected to have him neutered shortly after the litter was bred, and before the pups were born. Fortunately we still retain the grandparents and a repeat breeding of the sire remains possible.
- Fox was a precocious puppy in every way. She matured quickly both physically and with such mental maturity as well that we
decided to send her out for a few summer shows at a very early age - something we rarely do.
- In her first show at 8 months of age she was BOB over specials and BPIG under breeder/judge Terry Taft and she never looked
back from there. She finished her first weekend of shows with 5 points and picked up her final 5 the second weekend out, finishing at 10 months of age with multiple BOBs, and 4 BPIG wins.
- In six shows in early 2004 she won 3 Best of Breeds with a Group 4th and a Group 1st, and 3 Best of Opposite Sexes, always shown
exquisitely by handler Connie O’Brien, and easily completing her Cdn.Ch. title.
- On 29 July 2004 Fox produced a litter of just two pups, both males, sired by Ch. Nevedith Local Lancer. Those two sons -- Zeus and
Apollo, registered as Avalonia Glenlochy and Avalonia Edradour, -- have both been retained by Avalonia and both are now Canadian Champions, gaining their titles with the same ease as their mother did in her short show career.
- On 9 September 2005 Fox had a second litter, this time one of 7 pups sired by Ch. Avalonia Wotta Jesta. Consisting of 2 females
and 5 males, we elected to place all the pups in the litter as we were still in the process of showing Fox’s two sons from her first litter. But the quality of that litter was such that we made the decision to re-breed this litter in 2007 for Fox’s last litter in the hopes of finding a female pup from that litter with which to continue this line.
