Andrew provides Avalonia, in partnership with DuMond Whippets in the USA, with something we have wanted to add to our breeding program for some time – the opportunity to produce solid black or black and white whippets. Andrew is a moderate sized dog – at 8 months he is not quite 20 inches tall –out of two moderate sized parents.  His sire is 20 inches and his dam is petite, like many of the Avalonia bitches.  As such he falls fully within the size range we prefer, and he certainly meets our objective to breed whippets that fall within the English and FCI breed standards.

Bred in Ohio, USA, out of well-bred Sporting Fields bloodlines, including its renowned black bloodline, Andrew provides Avalonia with its first outcrossed male in nearly a decade.  With the Avalonia bloodline a strong, very tightly line bred mix of Nevedith and Avalonia bloodlines, Andrew brings us the opportunity to use his outcrossed bloodline to enhance our future breeding program and introduce exciting new genetics, including black whippets, into the mix.  Resident at Avalonia, his co-owner Jalynn Almond of DuMond whippets will show Andrew in the summer of 2007 in Canada. 

Andrew’s arrival at Avalonia has created much interest, speculation and reservations amongst breeders worldwide interested in future litters featuring his pedigree and our Avalonia/Nevedith lines. We hope to breed our first Andrew litter out of an exceptional bitch sometime later in 2007 as he reaches maturity and will begin to find out then!
